Matad Raman
For this project, I developed a refreshed packaging design for 'Raman' Sweet & Sour Crispy Vermicelli Noodle, a heritage product from the North Saladaeng community group (Raman ethnic group). With a recipe preserved for over 200 years, the project aimed to honor the brand’s deep-rooted tradition while elevating its presentation to a more professional, market-competitive level. I focused on creating a realistic and easily adaptable packaging solution, ensuring the elderly community members, who form the core of 'Matad Raman,' could implement the changes without disrupting their operations. The result balances respect for cultural heritage with modern market needs, helping promote local tourism and showcasing unique food culture to a broader audience.
The project followed a structured design thinking approach, beginning with an empathizing phase where I interviewed the North Saladaeng community members, observed their production methods, and learned about the history and significance of their product. I then conducted market research to understand the target audience and study competitors offering similar traditional foods. After gathering insights, I defined the project objectives, identifying key problems, opportunities, and KPIs to guide the design direction. Moving into ideation, I explored various packaging concepts that balanced creativity with practical production needs, especially considering the senior community members’ preferences. Once a suitable idea was selected, I drafted detailed sketches and developed a dieline using Adobe Illustrator to prepare the design for production. A high-fidelity mockup was then printed using double-sided glossy photo paper, simulating the final product. The process concluded with presenting the prototype to the client, gathering their feedback, and making final adjustments to ensure the design was both effective and easy to implement.
